virtual steam consultation

Set aside one hour for your consultation.

We will begin with a review of your intake form and discussion of your menstrual cycle history.

Most likely we will both have questions. Be sure to write yours down ahead of time to be sure we get to them.

We will go over the at-home steam setup, and I’ll provide a link to the steam guide for reference after the call.

You’ll receive a custom steam protocol including setup, frequency, and expectations. I’ll also recommend specific steam blends that will be most beneficial for you. Your protocol will be written and stored in the client portal. You’ll get an email notification when it’s finalized and ready to view.

If you think of something after the call ends, no worries. You’ll have a few weeks of follow up questions and check-ins via the portal chat.

in-person steam session

Your session will begin with a brief discussion of your cycles, steam needs and expectations. The appropriate steam will be determined and prepared safely for you.

As steaming is an ideal time to connect with your womb space and activate deeper healing, bring affirmation card, journal, focal point, bottled water or favorite tea, crystals, socks, etc.

We will provide relaxing music or guided visualization, fresh steam cushions and gowns, mandala coloring books and pens, a tea kettle and cups.

After your steam you will be invited to enjoy a relaxation session on the massage table before wrapping up with recommendations for future steams and womb care.

Prep by showering before your session, if possible, and avoid using any creams or lotions on your pelvic area. Anyone reeking of perfumes/colognes and cigarette smoke will be rescheduled.

best times to steam

  • Before intercourse to increase lubrication, arousal, and relaxation

  • Immediately after intercourse to soothe, cleanse and tone

  • Before bedtime to take advantage of relaxation and improve restful sleep

  • Weekly, or the day after your period

  • It is best not to steam within 3 days of your period, especially if you have short cycles

cautions

Steaming is contraindicated:

  • during active menstrual bleeding or fresh red spotting or uterine bleeding

  • during ovulation and the weeks after, if trying to conceive

  • when pregnant (special exceptions for 3rd trimester labor prep and pregnancy loss with the support of a qualified peristeam hydrotherapist)

  • during the first 6 weeks after a Cesarean section or any pelvic surgery or procedure (uterine ablation, tubal ligation, etc)

  • for some time after some abdominal surgeries and procedures like appendix removal, hernia repair, etc (check with your steam therapist to learn when it’s safe to resume steaming)

notes

Lingan steams (for males) are not available at Qi To Wellness. If you need a referral, let us know. We’re happy to assist.

Be sure to remove Nuva ring, genital piercings, yoni pearls, and yoni eggs prior to steam. Steaming with vaginal mesh may be contraindicated.
