I first learned of the power of food from my grandmother who was one gardening, home-cooking, restaurant owning, community leading, hymn-loving, clairvoyant, prayerful woman! Much of my formative years were spent in the garden and kitchen with her (and my grandpa), hands-on with planting, growing, harvesting, preparing, and presenting living foods from our cultural heritage. I still enjoy butter beans, yuca and turnip greens. From those experiences, I came to understand that thriving is in our DNA and the daily interaction and consumption of living foods is the key to unlocking the full potential of our mind, body and spirit.
In 2016 I partnered with Oldways as an Ambassador of their African Heritage program for curious individuals seeking out ways to incorporate a wholesome, nutrition and delicious array of foods from the African diaspora.
